Founded in 1963, this quaint
village setting of six buildings
houses thousands of artifacts representing over 200 years of
Island history. The progression of St. Joseph Island is
represented
in three time periods: native encampments to Fort St. Joseph
(1796-1814),
pioneer settlements (1835 and upwards) to almost complete private
ownership by 1890.
The museum also has an archival collection of genealogical
records,
personal recollections, and photographs. Other resources of
information include maps, newspaper clippings and
locally- authored/illustrated books.
