The
2004 Ernie Eddy Memorial Children’s Ice Fishing Derby held February 28
was a fabulous success with 176 children and their parents enjoying a
beautiful day on the ice at Twin Lakes. Children and adults stuffed
themselves with hot dogs, sweets and wild game goodies that were served.
Thirty four (34) fish were caught during the 4 - hour derby. Richard
Hansen was the winner in the open division and Wilson Moore was the
winner of the splake division. Sarah Bailey bested the boys by catching
the most fish. Because of the generosity of our donors, every child
received a prize. A list of donors follows.
Derby
organizers, Graham and Sherrie Kent thank all of the volunteers, donors
and donors of baked goods that made this year’s derby an unqualified
success.
Many
people ask us how we can afford to put this big event on at no cost to
the participants. The funds to put on this derby come from the proceeds
of the Soo Salmon Derby that we have taken over. We feel that teaching
kids to enjoy fishing and hunting in a responsible manner is one of our
biggest priorities.

complete standings are as follows:
