Deer Save Program

When Ontario’s harsh winter weather puts our whitetail deer population in crisis, its no coincidence that anglers and hunters come to the rescue through participation in the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) DeerSave emergency winter feeding program. In conjunction with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the OFAH DeerSave program was created to coordinate volunteers for breaking trails, browse cutting and emergency deer feeding in areas where high snow levels and extended periods of extreme weather could cause large-scale starvation in deer wintering areas. OFAH Deer Save Fund donations may be sent to: St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Association, Box 287, Richards Landing ON P0R 1J0.

The St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Association administers this program for the island and the north shore. We also keep $5000 on hand for emergency feeding.
